Sailing through Glass is a surreal painting by Aalia Rahman that explores the concept of hard work. Painted seamlessly onto hand-stretched 100% cotton canvas, Sailing through Glass cruises you to a new, unexpected world with it’s vibrant yet pleasant colors and forms.
ABOUT THE ARTIST:
I paint surreal art that is my interpretation of an emotion, feeling or mental state.
ABOUT THE ARTWORK:
In this painting, I painted the sail boat as a metaphor of my dad and all the struggle he went through. The clouds that are about to pour down show the tough situation he is in, while the fact that a wooden sail boat can crush glass shows that he can get through them regardless of how impossible it may seem. I understand this is not what you as the viewer may see, but I am absolutely open to the viewers interpretation and you may make it as you see.
This painting took me about a year to completely finalize and finish. The artwork does not extend to the sides of canvas.
